School band
The Grose View band program, under the direction of Mrs Alison Saunders, has been perfected for more than 15 years and has a well-deserved reputation for excellence.
Grose View Concert Band have played at many events over the years including the Hawkesbury Eisteddfod - winning the C grade section 2014, joint winners of the B grade section 2015, outright winners in C grade in 2016 and 2017.
They also perform during Education Week at Richmond Market Place, at school open days and school presentation ceremonies. The Concert Band has previously been involved in the Kurrajong Scarecrow Festival, Hawkesbury Music Festival and Western Sydney Showtime Band Workshops.
During 2016-2017 the Grose View School Band began playing at our school assemblies leading the Grose View students in the singing of the school song and the national anthem.

Aims of the school band
The Grose View Public School music program is an integral part of music education at our school and is coordinated by a parent committee, which is a sub-committee of the P&C Association.
Mrs Alison Saunders has led the music program since 2003. She brings a love of music and a wealth of experience to her role as conductor and music arranger. Under the guidance of Mrs Saunders, students at Grose View are awakened to music appreciation and introduced to the language of music,can learn to play an instrument and be part of our award-winning concert band.

- Making music is fun
The music program has 5 strands students can join at any point, depending on their age and skill level. And, while the Concert Band is the most ‘visible' product of our music program, each stage is enjoyable and very worthwhile.
1. Mini Musos
Designed for students in kindergarten-2, Mini musos is a fun way to introduce children to the language of music. It involves singing, learning the recorder, playing percussion instruments and moving to the rhythm and beat.
2. Beginner keyboard lessons
These lessons are aimed at students in years 1-2 who are not quite big enough to take on a band instrument, but who want to deepen their musical knowledge. They learn in small group or private lessons. Keyboard lessons are also available to students in higher years.
3. Trial Band
This program runs each term, subject to numbers, and gives students in years 2-5 the chance to try several instruments before deciding what they would like to learn. There is no obligation to take further lessons, or to join the band.
4. Beginner Band
Students in their first year of learning a band instrument or the keyboard are considered part of the Beginner Band depending on student numbers this can be a performing ensemble. Students can start keyboard lessons in year 1 and band instruments from year 3. Beginner Band involves weekly private or small group lessons (which include music theory) as well as home practice.
5. Concert Band
Students are invited to join the Concert Band when their playing and reading skills are at a level that will allow them to enjoy, and be an active part of, the group. If you choose to join the Concert Band you commit to weekly private or small group lessons (which include music theory), a weekly rehearsal, home practice and attendance at all performances.
More about the Grose View Public School Concert Band
The Concert Band performs at school assemblies and other important events throughout the year both in school and in the community. Its annual concert is also very popular.
The Band has achieved great success under the leadership of Mrs Saunders. Grose View received 1st place in the 2017 and 2016 Hawkesbury Eisteddfod, C grade section. These wins followed on from an equal 1st in B grade in 2015 and 1st in C grade in 2014. Individual students also regularly receive placings in the annual competition. In addition, students who learn an instrument have the chance to perform in the Hawkesbury Music Festival and to take part in Western Sydney Showtime Band Workshops.
